From Zero Code to Data Confidence: My First MSBA Module at Notre Dame

I just wrapped up my first module of the MSBA program at Notre Dame. It’s been challenging in a good way that pushed me forward, exciting, and filled with learning experiences that have reshaped how I see the world of data.

Coming in with zero coding experience? Yeah, I was a bit scared. But honestly, that turned out to be the least of my worries. Between R, SQL, Statistics, Tableau, and everything in between, I've been able to pick up tools and techniques that I never thought I could. I've learned, unlearned, and relearned concepts through:

•Data Wrangling with R thanks to Prof. Seth Berry (yes, keyboard shortcuts are a game-changer)
•Data Management in SQL with Prof. Sharif Nijim (relational databases are officially less scary now)
•Statistical Analysis with Prof. Junghee Lee (probability, regression... numbers telling stories!)
•Data Visualization with Prof. Alison Lanski (turning data into something people actually understand with Tableau)

A big shoutout to these professors for teaching concepts and making them fun and engaging. You’ve helped me see how data truly is everywhere and why it's so powerful.

Aside from academics, this journey has also been about growth and leadership through service. I am grateful for the amazing classmates and alumni I've met along the way. Between career fairs, workshops, and some good laughs, this experience has been much more than just textbooks and code.

What’s next? Who knows :). It's module 2! And I’m ready to dive deeper and see where this data adventure takes me.

Takeaway? Data is fun, and it’s everywhere. It’s shaping everything around us. So, embrace it.
